When a door automatically closes and the automatic is not working, you might have to use your feet to open the door.
A man who calls himself “the Pekistan Man” in a video posted online says his family has been using the same technique for more than two decades.
In an article on the website of the United Nations, the UN Assistance Mission for Afghanistan, or UNAMA, the man claims to have been able to stop automatic doors and stop people from using the phone, as well as to open up other doors that people have tried to close.
The video was shared widely on social media, and was seen by several US lawmakers.
It has been viewed more than 200,000 times and shared over 15,000 time-lapse photos of the area.US Rep. Justin Amash, R-Mich., who has sponsored legislation to combat the growing use of automatic doors, called the video “absolutely ridiculous,” and called on the United States government to investigate it.
Amash said he spoke with UNAMA and found that they are “trying to take advantage of an American citizen to scare them and try to scare people away.”
Amash told NBC News he was not familiar with the video, but noted that it appears to be a common tactic used in Afghanistan.
“It seems that if you’ve been around these doors and you’ve heard the alarm, that’s not the first time it’s been used,” he said.
Amashes spokesman Eric Jones said the congressman “will continue to work to stop these abuses.”
But Amash and others have called the incident “outrageous” and have urged the UNAMA to launch an investigation.
The man who filmed the video told NBC news he had been using it for more years than that.
He said he is trying to stop other doors from closing and to open more doors that are still locked.UNAMA officials said in a statement to NBC News that it was investigating the video and that it would not comment further.
