Posted June 08, 2018 08:08:25 A lock can be programmed to unlock automatically, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a little help.
A new research paper by researchers at the University of Waterloo shows how you can use the same software that locks your door and lockers can to unlock your smart home.
The researchers say they can use software that can unlock your home using a Bluetooth LE sensor to activate the locks automatically, even when it’s connected to your home’s network.
The research paper, titled “Smart Home Lock Programming Using Bluetooth LE”, is published in the Journal of Intelligent Systems.
The researchers showed how they could use a Bluetooth sensor to program a Bluetooth-enabled door lock, or a door opener that connects to a smart home network, to unlock a smart door.
They demonstrated a door lock that can lock itself automatically and a door that can open itself automatically using a standard Bluetooth-compatible app.
“The key is that when we send a signal from the Bluetooth-powered door opener to the Bluetooth lock, we’re sending a signal to the smart lock,” said senior author, Dr. Anuj Kumar.
It’s important to note that this research is not a commercial product, he said.
“We’re not trying to make a profit out of this,” he added.

With a simple set of code and software, you could program a door to unlock itself, Kumar said.
Once you have a smart lock programmed to open automatically, you just need to set the lock’s code to “auto” in the Smart Home Control software.
Then you can control the lock manually.
You could use the Smart Lock Control app to set a trigger on the door to activate or deactivate the lock automatically.
To use the software, just follow these steps:Connect a Bluetooth transmitter to your smart device.
Open the Smart Security app on your smart devices.
Click the Lock icon.
Select “Set code.”
Set the code to auto.
The lock will unlock automatically when it detects that it’s being programmed.
